About Charles Street Dental Surgery
- Originally located in Windsor Place, the practice moved to its current location at 54 Charles Street in 1996.
- In 2018 Charles Street Dental Surgery was acquired by Principal dentist Rupert Nute.
- Since then, the practice has been fully refurbished, sympathetically restoring the beautiful 19th Century listed building to its former glory, whilst also modernising and upgrading the equipment to make your visit as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
- We provide the highest standard of dental care within a friendly, welcoming environment. Our treatments and services are provided by experienced dental professionals striving to provide clinical excellence.

Dr Rupert Nute
Practice Principal
Originally from Cornwall, Rupert qualified in 2002 from the University of Wales College of Medicine. He spent the next 15 years developing his skills in general dental practice in Swansea, where he also trained newly qualified dentists as an educational supervisor. He is a certified Invisalign provider, and his clinical interests include cosmetic dentistry, minor oral surgery, and mentoring new graduates.
Outside of dentistry, Rupert is a keen fencer. He has represented Wales at Veterans level, achieved a national ranking of No. 2, and is a three-time Welsh Team Épée Champion. He also enjoys taking part in Parkrun and is currently learning Spanish.

Nathaniel Davey
Associate Dentist
Nathaniel, originally from Yorkshire, graduated from Cardiff University School of Dentistry in 2022 and joined us after completing his Foundation Training position. He has since undertaken further courses in composite bonding and whitening, gaining valuable clinical skills and experience in both general and cosmetic dentistry. He is also a certified Invisalign provider.
Outside of dentistry, Nathaniel enjoys keeping fit and cooking Mediterranean food. He is an enthusiastic mountain biker, keen traveller, and enjoys playing golf.
Simon Hill
Visiting Implant Dentist
Simon qualified in 1996 from Cardiff University and carries over 30 years experience in the field.
His main interests include placing dental implants and minor oral surgery.
He has completed the Diploma in Implantology with the Royal College of Surgeons and has an advanced certificate in hard tissue augmentation.
Simon's hobbies include playing and coaching a rugby team. He previously played for Cardiff as a professional rugby player and won 12 caps for Wales.
Sumrah Ali
Dental Therapist/Hygienist
Originally from Cardiff, Sumrah graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2025 with a BSc in Dental Hygiene and Therapy.
During her time at university, she gained a wide range of experience across a variety of community and hospital settings and managed both adult and paediatric cases.
Sumrah is passionate about preventative dentistry and enjoys delivering tailored oral hygiene advice, communicating clearly, keeping up to date with the latest advancements and wanting to ensure her patients are always at ease during appointments. She takes pride in supporting patients to make long-term improvements to their oral health.
Outside of dentistry, she enjoys cooking and baking for friends and family, participating in charity events and keeping active with yoga.
